Our hope is that families find our facilities spacious, comfortable and suited to their needs.

Chapel ~ Our chapel can comfortably seat approximately 110 people. The subtle and warm coloring of the room makes it a soothing and serene place for visitations and services.

Kitchen ~ All of the families we serve have complete access to our full kitchen facilities. Often, visitations occur over the dinner hour, so we encourage families to bring food for themselves (and others, if they wish) so that they are comfortable during their stay at our home. We provide coffee, water and lemonade for all visitations.

Arrangement Conference Area ~ While making funeral arrangements or preplanning services, families meet with us at our large, round table just off the kitchen. Many families gather around their kitchen or dining room table to eat as a family, to talk about important matters, or to simply reminisce. We hope that families feel as “at home” at our table as they do at their own; however, if families prefer to meet in the comfort of their own home, the staff at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home will honor that wish. This area serves several other purposes as well: 

• For visitations, it can be used as a children’s play area, complete with a 36” plasma TV for viewing DVDs or children’s programming from our satellite system.
• If a family wishes to have a meal at the table during visitation, they can view the chapel at the same time so as not to miss seeing any special relatives or guests.
• During funeral or memorial services, this area can be set up with chairs for an overflow area to accommodate approximately 20 people. Parents or other caregivers can also use the area as a “cry room” for fussy children. They won’t miss one minute of the service since it is broadcast on the television. 
• Our television, DVD and camera equipment also enables us to record services onto DVD for families to keep as a treasured memento of the tribute to their loved one.

Merchandise Selection ~ We offer quality Aurora caskets to the families we serve. Without leaving the comfort of our arrangement area, families may select caskets, vaults, and urns using our wall-mounted plasma television and Aurora's Family Advisor Program. This interactive, online program provides families access to all the merchandise available, whereas a traditional selection room's offerings are limited by the space available. We offer Watts Vaults, and our cremation products come from a variety of companies, mainly Aurora and Batesville.

Patio Areas ~ We offer a patio area with lounge furniture off the back door for family and guest use in mild weather.

Our building features central heating and cooling and is completely handicap accessible.
