Dear friends,

My wife quotes an ancient Chinese curse that says “May you live in interesting times”. We most certainly do.
As we deal with the current Coronavirus crisis, we want you to know that we are here to help you navigate your way through the death of a family member or loved one.

We are adhering to the Governor’s current Disaster Declaration guidelines limiting gatherings to no more than ten people. However, there are options on how to celebrate someone’s life. This requires flexibility and patience on the part of the all participants. Thankfully, the families we have helped since the Governor’s restrictions were put in place have been very understanding and gracious about following the guidelines. We thank you for that.

A newer saying that also fits these difficult times is “We will get through this together.” Have faith, be safe, be compassionate.

Van Steenhuyse Funeral Home Welcomes You

When you come to our funeral home, you are not just coming to our business, you are coming to our home. And we welcome you. Whether you come to pay your respects to someone at a visitation or funeral service, discuss funeral pre-arrangements or just stop by to say hello, we welcome you into our home.

Midwesterners that we are, we usually visit and conduct business at the kitchen table. This may not sound “professional,” but it is who we are and how we like to do business.

We rarely deal with strangers. We usually help friends and families we have known for most of our lives. And we are honored to be asked to help. Being funeral directors is more than a job for us. It is a ministry of service to people in a time of great need.

Thank you for honoring us with your trust. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. We consider it a privilege. The mission of Van Steenhuyse Funeral Home is to provide dignified, compassionate and respectful care for all people in their time of need. We have made a commitment to excellence, respecting all beliefs and traditions and the solemn trust placed in us by the families we serve. Our belief is that in addition to serving the bereaved, we also have an obligation to contribute to our community through educational, civic and charitable endeavors.
