Obituary for Aiden Ashley "Bud" Foss

Aiden Ashley “Bud” Foss, 84, of La Porte City, IA, died Monday, September 18, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thurs., Sept. 21, at St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City with Rev. Christina Sung and Rev. LeRoy Collins officiating. Visitation will begin 3 PM Wed., Sept. 20, also at the church. Interment with graveside military rites by American Legion USS San Diego Post 207/VFW Normandy Post 3983 will be at Westview Cemetery in La Porte City.
Bud was born August 7, 1922, in La Porte City, the son of Ralph Aiden and Letha Marie (Ashley) Foss. He graduated from La Porte City Community Schools in 1940. He married Marion Irene Merchant on October 29, 1944, in La Porte City.
Bud served overseas in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 until 1945.
He worked as an inspector for the Iowa Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1988.
Bud was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and American Legion USS San Diego Post 207/VFW Normandy Post 3983, both in La Porte City.
Bud is survived by his wife, Marion, of La Porte City; one son, Richard (Lynette) Foss of La Porte City; two daughters, Pamela (Otto) Claassen of Van Horne, IA, and Nancy (Bernard) Jones of Marshalltown, IA; one brother, Lee D. Foss of La Porte City; one sister, Barbara A. (Lee) Reinhardt of Littleton, NC; three grandchildren, Joseph Notch, Brenda Anderson and James Notch; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Anderson and Madeline Notch.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Cooper; and three brothers, Allen, James and Theodore Foss.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
