Obituary for Harold Lindahl

VINTON – Harold Lindahl, 82, of Vinton, passed away Wednesday, May 16, at his home of Parkinson’s disease.    Harold was born December 29, 1924, in rural Vinton, the son of Hugo and Emmy Bengston Lindahl. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton and served in the United States Navy during World War II.    Harold married Joan M. Hurst on March 5, 1950, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vinton, where he was a lifelong member and served on the church council.    His lifelong occupation was farming. Harold served as a 4-H leader and received the Master Pork Producer Award for Benton County in 1975. He also enjoyed woodworking.    Harold is survived by his wife, Joan, of Vinton; one son, John (Julie) Lindahl of Vinton; one daughter: Barbara (Kevin) Robinson of Blairstown; two brothers: Herbert (Mary Ann) Lindahl of Holly Hill, SC; and Alvin (Nola) Lindahl of Vinton; one son-in-law, Bob Wenner of Marshalltown; eight grandchildren: Steven, Daniel (Tammy) and Gregory (Lindsey) Wenner, Jenae, Joye and Jaimie Lindahl, and Rhea and Lucas Robinson; and six great-grandchildren: Brady, Alyssa, Bryanna, Caitlyn, Matthew and James Wenner.    He was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters, Dorothy J. Lindahl and Doris J. Wenner.    Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vinton. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM Friday, May 18, 2007, at Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.    A memorial fund has been established.
