Obituary for Jane Pauline Christie

Jane Pauline Christie, 83, of Vinton, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Vinton Lutheran Home in Vinton, Iowa. Per Jane’s wishes, her body has been deeded to the University of Iowa for medical research purposes.
Jane was born to Frank “Sam” Nass and Gertrude Bartelt on January 7, 1931, at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School and various public schools in Waterloo. She moved to Davenport and attended seventh grade at a Lutheran school. In eighth grade, she moved to the Panama Canal Zone for 2 years. Upon moving back to the States, she lived with an aunt, Thelma Stumma, and attended Brandon High School for one year. She then graduated from Donnelson High School in Donnelson, Iowa, in 1948. She worked for Schaeffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison and then in the cashier office at Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo.
In June of 1950, she married Leslie A. Posekany of Dike. They resided in Charles City where she was a secretary at Salsbury’s Laboratories. She lived briefly in Sacramento, CA, and then, in 1952, they settled in Waterloo until moving to Cedar Falls in 1964. Leslie preceded Jane in death in 1974. She married Duane E. Brown of Evansdale in 1976. He preceded her in death in 1986.
For over 10 years she was employed as a secretary in various areas by the Cedar Falls Community School District, retiring in 1987. During this time, she was also self-employed as a contract typist.
In 2002, she married Frank Christie of Cedar Falls.
Jane settled at the Vinton Lutheran Home. She was gently loved and the staff was her new “family.” It was here she passed away with family by her side.
Jane is survived by her husband, Frank Christie; one daughter, Rae (Brian) Foulk of Vinton; two sons: Marty (Rosemary) Posekany of Greenville, MI, and Darby (Rhonda) Posekany of Arlington, TX; a sister, Grace Ann LeGates of Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Taiya Maria Stevens, Belinda Hogan, and Andrew, Zach and Alex Posekany; and 11 great-grandchildren.
