Janet was born May 29, 1920, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of S. G. “Boler” and Florence “Flossie” Taylor Bolenbaugh. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1937. Following graduation, Janet worked for a local veterinarian and J.C. Penney’s.
On January 14, 1939, Janet was united in marriage with Keith D. Elwick in Kahoka, Missouri. The couple farmed together in the Vinton area. In later years, they enjoyed traveling the world, wintering in Naples, Florida, and the Caribbean island of Bequia. In January of 2018, this devoted, loving couple celebrated their 79th wedding anniversary.
Janet was a long-time, active member of Vinton Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing cards, particularly Bridge, golfing, swimming, fishing, gardening, cooking, reading mysteries, completing crossword puzzles and needlework.
