Obituary for Karen Ann Scheib

Karen Ann Scheib, 73, died Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at her residence in Vinton.

   A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2015, at Oak Grove Church in rural Shellsburg with Pastor Stephen Watson officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 3, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home, Vinton. Private family committal services will take place at Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton.

   Karen was born January 20, 1942, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Harrison Lewis and Mary Johanna Nielsen Willson. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School and attended Dubuque University.

   On January 25, 1997, Karen was united in marriage with Milton “Mike” Scheib in Cedar Falls.

   Karen began working for Regions Bank in the 1970s and was an investment banker and branch manager.

   Karen was a member of Oak Grove Church. She enjoyed reading, running, fishing and hunting. During her lifetime she held a pilot’s license and loved flying, and her love of biking led her to complete Iowa’s Ragbrai.

   Karen is survived by her husband of 18 years, Mike Scheib, of Vinton; daughters Ronda (Russ) Egbert of Ft. Worth, TX, and Tammy (Art) Jurchen of Urbana; son Bruce (Jerri) Scheib of Mason, OH; sister Nancy (Jeff) Lucius of Golden, CO; 9 grandchildren: Ellie and Emerson Egbert, Nathan, Noah, Ashley and Benjamin Scheib, Ariel Bartling, Rena Cozart and Eli Hunerdosse; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Bud (Ann), Larry (DeAnne) and Lyle Scheib; sister-in-law Faith (Tom) Kincheloe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents.

   Memorial contributions may be directed to the Vinton Public Library.

Visitation: 6:30 -8 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015, at the funeral home

Committal Service: Private family service at Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton
