Obituary for Rita J. Glime

La Porte City—Rita J. Glime, 68, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo of natural causes.
Rita was born January 18, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Harriet Bruch Siek.  She grew up in Blairstown and graduated from Blairstown High School in 1964.  She attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1968.  On February 25, 1967 she married David Glime in Blairstown.  The couple farmed near La Porte City and Rita worked for over twenty five years at Waterloo Industries, retiring from her manager’s position in 2011.  Rita was a Master Gardener and member of the Vinton Garden Club. She served as a 4H leader and she enjoyed playing bridge, cooking and antiques.  She was a very caring person and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. 
She is survived by her mother, Harriet Siek, Blairstown; husband, David Glime, La Porte City;  children,  Gwendolyn Vogeler, La Porte City, and Wyatt (Monica) Glime, Everly, Iowa;  six grandchildren, Matthew, Nicolas and Aaden Vogeler, Bailey and Hannah Stimson and Presley Glime; brothers, H. Marion (Nancy) Siek and Richard Siek, all of Blairstown, Robert (Vicki) Siek, Lamoni and sister-in-law, Ann Glime, Colesburg.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry, and sister-in-law, Sheryl Siek.
A memorial fund has been established.
Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home is caring for Rita and her family.  As an organ donor, Rita’s caring spirit will live on in her gift of life to others.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City with Rev. Doug Rokke officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church and an hour before the service on Saturday. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in La Porte City.
