Obituary for Robert Leo "Bob" Ament

Robert L. “Bob” Ament, Jr., 57, of Vinton, died Friday, September 12, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids due to injuries sustained in a work-related accident.
    Funeral services will be held 7 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton with Pastor Loel Fink officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday, September 16, also at the funeral home.  Following services, the body will be cremated.
    Bob was born December 6, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert Leo and Betty Margaret Hazen Ament, Sr.  He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1969 and attended Kirkwood Community College.
    Bob served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
    On November 2, 1974, Bob was united in marriage with Lorraine Maxine “Lori” Boots in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
    Bob had worked for Herb’s Garbage Hauling in Vinton for the past two years and had been a truck driver prior to that.
    Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lori Ament, of Vinton; one son, Timothy Ament of Vinton; two daughters: Robyn (Patrick) Lovell of Vinton and Jennifer (Jeremy) Farmer of Marion; one sister, Jolene (Don) Siewart of Muscatine; and 8 grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Julie Gillick.
    A memorial fund has been established.
