Obituary for Rubie Lorraine Noeller

Rubie Lorraine Noeller, 87, of Vinton, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Keystone Care Center due to COPD.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 29, at the First Christian Church in Vinton with Pastors Walter Grimes and Jerry Thordsen officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 28, from 5 to 8 PM at Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and also one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Rubie was born July 25, 1919, in Vinton, the daughter of Milford and Vada Hurst Neve. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1936. She married Gale L. Noeller on June 28, 1942, in Vinton. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1985. She had been a lifelong resident of Vinton until moving to the Keystone Care Center on September 7, 2006.
Rubie was employed at Wright’s Pharmacy in Vinton for 31 years. She had been a member of First Christian Church in Vinton since joining in 1936. She held many offices in the church, participated in C.W.F. and was a Deaconess and a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Vinton Women’s Club.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, winning many blue ribbons at the Benton County Fair. Her other hobbies included embroidery and ceramics. She was also a huge local sports fan.
Rubie is survived by one daughter, Carol McNeal of Garrison; one son, Steven Noeller and his wife Mary of Stanwood, IA; three sisters: Jane Hepker of Urbana; Betty Selken and her husband Delbert of Cedar Rapids; and Donna Hamilton of Vinton; one sister-in-law, Leila Boddicker of Vinton; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Hazel Halliwill; and a son-in-law, Jim McNeal.
A memorial fund has been established.
