Obituary for Wilson Robb Morrow

VINTON – Robb Morrow, 81, of Vinton, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton following a sudden illness.    Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the Vinton Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Ron Sumption officiating. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 PM Tuesday, July 24, at Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton, with military rites by George G. Luckey American Legion Post #57.    Robb was born August 31, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Wilson Emmett and Ruth Hamilton Robb Morrow. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton in 1943. From 1944 until 1946, Robb proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.    Robb was united in marriage to Alice Margaret Hummel by Rev. Charles Robb in Wichita, Kansas, on December 26, 1948. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2004.     Robb worked as a farmer from 1946 until 1957. He also worked at the Wee Mite Shop in 1957. From 1957 until 1975, he was employed by Hummel & Son. Robb worked as a Field Technician for Benton County Soil Conservation from 1975 until his retirement in 1990.    Robb was a member of the Vinton Presbyterian Church, and he was a volunteer Chaplain at several area hospitals and nursing homes. He was very active in his community as a member of Daybreakers’ Kiwanis, the former Garrison American Legion, George G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 in Vinton and the Smith-Geater VFW Post #8884 of Brandon.    Robb is survived by two sons: David (Patricia) Morrow of Vinton and Kenneth (Cheri) Morrow of Fairfield; three daughters: Joyce (Bruce) Erickson of Vinton, Nancy (Larry) Woolison of Hiawatha and Elaine (Steve) Weirather of Newhall; two sisters: Betty (Marion) Keffer of Cedar Rapids and Joanne (Louie) Kaiser of Van Horne; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; and one great-grandson, Reece Erickson.    A memorial fund has been established.
